Somewhere in 2013 and somewhere on Pinterest I found a DIY face scrub recipe that to this day ensured wonders for me. Knowing me; I just glance through recipes and then I do my own thing. I usually throw together these four ingredients and then use it to cleanse my face 2-3 times a week.

This scrub will be perfect for a dry or normal skin and you will really feel the difference on your skin just after you have used it. It is soothing, a treat and can even be a creative gift for that one friend that is getting married soon.

For 170 g of scrub that will last about 6 weeks;

Ingredients;

30ml Coconut oil

100-160 g Brown Sugar

30 ml Rose water

30 ml Honey

Why these four ingredients;

Coconut Oil – Coconut oil is naturally antibacterial, antifungal and a very soothing moisturizer.

Brown Sugar – Brown sugar is softer than granulated sugar so it can be used when treating your skin. Any sugar scrub will exfoliate the dead skin cells which will then help with revealing the healthy skin cells.

Rose water – Rose water is anti-inflammatory, it will clean pores and will help with hydrating your skin.

Honey – For me this is the most important ingredient. Honey is naturally antibacterial, which means it is great for acne and scar treatment. It is also full of antioxidants so it can be used for an aging skin as well.

Tips;

  • The coconut oil is the most expensive ingredient, but if you cook with it as well it is not an extra expense.
  • I buy natural rose water at Discem stores.
  • Use pure honey.
  • I know some ladies melt the coconut oil first and then do some fancy things to the mixture. I just mix it all together and put it in a recyclable glass container.
  • If you want a softer scrub for a very sensitive skin I will suggest either using less sugar or you can always use corn flour instead of sugar. Corn Flour is also very good for your skin and a great add-on for this scrub.
  • Don’t leave it on you face for longer than 1 minute.
  • The coconut oil melts easily on summer days and if you leave it in a steamy bathroom, so if you leave it for a while make sure to mix it well before you use it again.
  • Durability of the scrub depends on the durability of the coconut oil and the honey, so make sure you know what the expiry dates are.
  • It makes a perfect DIY gift.
  • This face scrub is also very relaxing so it can be used when you know you are going to spend hours in the bath.
  • I always take a batch with me when I am travelling. It really helps and refreshes your skin when you are behind with sleep.

It is the finest face scrub and it will ensure a soft skin with a glassy glow – Also have a look at what Popsugar suggested way back in 2013. I promise you; this face scrub works.
